For Faculty
The Millenial generation, raised on technology and multitasking, are struggling to adapt to lecture based learning. This seminar introduces active learning techniques that will engage and excite the new generation, without sacrificing content. These techniques also improve students’ communication, problem solving, teamwork and leadership skills.
Let
them figure it out!
Active Learning Techniques in the Classroom
Have you noticed that students are different than they used to be? Gone are the days when the professor lectured and students diligently took notes. Today’s learners have shorter attention spans, they come and go as they please, and you can never be sure if they’re taking notes or surfing the net on their computers!
The vast majority of our students today are Millenials, part of the generation born between 1980 and 2000. They're the ultimate multi-taskers, used to juggling school, sports, part time jobs and volunteer commitments. They’re confident, quick to voice their opinion, and they like to learn by discovery in teams of their peers.
In this session, you’ll discover:
•
More about the learning styles of today’s students
• New directions in pedagogy that develop students’ leadership,
communication and interpersonal skills
• Ingenious and easy to use active learning techniques that engage students
in their learning experience
